Happy Birthday, America

Since it's just about America's Birthday (and I LOVE birthdays), I've been feeling...umm, should we say, much more Patriotic than usual? So in honor of Independence Day, I've decided to dedicate a blog to the stars and stripes, freedom, and Lady Liberty. As I type this, with my red, white and blue sparkely nails, I am reminded of all the things that make me love the 4th of July (and this time of year, in general): The fireworks and fairs, friends and family, BBQs and beers, popsicles and pies, baseball and blue jean shorts...I could go on...and of course, we can not forget about the many brave men and women that are the reasons we are able to enjoy these holidays in the "Land of the Free"...So, sit back, relax, and enjoy some pretty patriotic pictures and ideas. Sending wishes for a safe, fun-filled 4th of July!

Orange you glad Pantone's color of the year is Tangerine Tango?!




According to the official announcement from Pantone, this reddish-orange color is meant to give us a major energy boost. Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Institute fills us in about the choice for 2012:

“Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it. Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vicariousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”






I'll take a side of Tangerine Tango with my latte, please.

It's not too late to find your Christmas color palette!

The leaves might still be falling but Christmas is right around the corner and soon those piles of leaves will be piles of snow! Whether you prefer rustic or elegant- go for the gold!

A no fail color scheme: Peacock!

The vibrant plumage of the peacock is a no fail color scheme with so much possibility! Peacock blue is like the regal, funky cousin of navy and works well with so many other colors. Some of the many colors that you can combine include apricot, orange, pink, red, yellow, lime, and teal. Use some of these photos as inspiration! Whether your style is traditional or contemporary, these jewel tones are a hit.

Fall color trends

Autumn is approaching and it's a great time to start incorporating some of this years fall color trends into your home. Nate Berkus recommends 5 this year which include navy black, jade, rust, asparagus, and bronze. We like! The great thing about these colors is that they are neutral enough to work with pretty much any color scheme, all you need are a few accent pieces! Here are a few examples:
